Nina Isabella
founder of mamashanti
I was introduced to yoga at the tender age of 15
with 40 years of personal practice behind me, I bring an honest and very real quality to my teaching. Raising a child, living in Melbourne, juggling career and motherhood have taught me profound lessons in acceptance, compassion, generosity and most of all – letting go.
I founded mamashanti in 2005
in response to the very real need for women to consciously prepare for birth, and with it establishing the modality of Yoga for Pregnancy & Birth. I bring a genuine understanding of the complexity of change that comes with pregnancy, this I approach with humour, compassion and joy. I am truly passionate about sharing my own intentional practice of with the hundreds of women and their partners who find their way to me.
Teaching yoga is deeply informed by my own experience of pregnancy and birth and by my work as a birth attendant.
I consciously bring the insights gained from these experiences and apply directly to teaching. All of my classes and workshops are designed to delight, inform and inspire you to embrace the glorious journey of birth and motherhood.
Almost 15 years ago, I happily skipped away from my career as a landscape architect
to heed the call to accompany women during their birthing years. I'm grateful to be living on Dja Dja Wurrung Country in the Central Highlands of Victoria where I dabble in permaculture with my gorgeous partner, darling son, very odd little pooch and a growing collection of farm animals.
In 2015, I began sharing insights with a wonderful group of women, the first to complete Mamashanti’s Yoga for The Birthing Years Teacher Training. This Yoga Australia Registered Training Course will be offered on an annual basis to grow these teachings into the birthing community.
I am honoured to be a member of the teaching faculty for Certified Awakened Woman :: Conscious Pregnancy Teacher Training and recognised as the only Australia Birth Worker to have completed Practitioner Training with internationally acclaimed somatic awareness, psoas whisperer – Liz Koch, founder of Core Awareness.
Currently. . .
I have completed my Master of Counselling. In addition to offering my unique Womanly Counselling practice, I am available for birth support, private birth preparation and private pelvic floor Rx sessions and from time to time the odd pop-up online class in Central Victoria and online. Sign up for my newsletter and follow me on Instagram to keep up with developments.
Welcome to mamashanti,
may the path before you be paved with joy. May your heart be opened by the boundless gifts of parenthood and as Kahlil Gibran so eloquently said, I sincerely hope each morning you
“wake at dawn with winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving”
